Welcome to the Oyebog Tennis Academy (OTA) which started in 1999 with clinics being organized in Cameroon, Africa. Over the years, the initiative has grown by leaps and bounds becoming an academyhat is registered in Cameroon and the United States of America under laws of the respective countries. Since the institution came into being in 1999, over 5000 children have been exposed to tennis. About 1200 kids are presently enrolled in the program which has 25 centers spread over 17 towns in the 10 regions of Cameroon. As of the moment OTA is the largest private charitable tennis organization in Africa. 50 coaches including 10 administrators run the day today business of the program as the founder /president splits his time between Cameroon and the United States in an attempt to promote and develop the project.
OTA’s mission is simple. tThe organization belives NO CHILD should be deprived from the benefits of exercising and doing sports. In third World Countries where a typical family has between 6 to 12 children to raise with less than 2000 dollars as income per year, it is impossible to think about sports, talk less of tennis. It is also impossible to talk of college education. OTA uses sports( tennis) not just as a healthy habit for children, but as a way of improving their education, thus a better quality of life. Tennis is brought to underprivileged kids as a means of changing their lives. Today about 20 kids from OTA Cameroon are playing college tennis in the United States through support. Please take a moment and go through our website and see how you can make a difference in a child’s life. REMEMBER a dollar runs the longest mile in Africa.
